This is because of an insulin resistance of the body which is brought about by the inability of the cells to react to the insulin or to react to the production of insulin which is not sufficient enough to control the blood glucose levels. This is usually found with elderly people, people who have weight problems and people who suffer from obesity. The key treatment for this initially requires a controlled diet, oral medication and a fair amount of exercise which can help to avoid it progressing to the other type of diabetes. If the type 2 diabetes does progress to the other type, insulin requirements for diabetics suffering from the other type will be required.
